Nov. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS – Georgia Health Information Management Association (GHIMA) signed a course affiliate partner agreement to offer Barry Libman Inc.’s Anatomy & Physiology for Coders course to its members.

A non-profit organization, GHIMA is a component state association of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). GHIMA consists of six regional associations including Augusta Area, Greater Atlanta, Middle Georgia, Northeast Georgia, Southeast Georgia, and South Georgia.   GHIMA provides members with education, communicates with them regularly on issues affecting their employers and the healthcare industry, and keeps them informed of local affairs that affect the health information management profession.

“The Board of Directors of GHIMA is pleased to offer Barry Libman Inc.’s Anatomy & Physiology for Coders course to its members.  AHIMA recommended an Anatomy and Physiology refresher for coders in preparation for the transition to IDC-10.  This course is the first step in learning the new ICD-10 Code Sets that will become effective in October 2014.  We are delighted to provide our members with this new service,” said Ed Farr, GHIMA President.

Barry Libman Inc.’s Anatomy & Physiology for Coders affiliate program provides State Associations with everything necessary to promote the course to their members.  The members receive a discount code to use when purchasing courses from the Barry Libman Inc. catalog. The Association uses the program to provide an ancillary revenue stream and augment existing on-premise seminars, webinars and audio training programs.

Anatomy & Physiology for Coders was developed to educate medical coders preparing for transition to ICD-10-CM and -PCS. The 12-week course provides a comprehensive and complete review of the major body systems, as well as coverage of common diseases and disorders, frequently prescribed drugs, and common laboratory tests.

The course uses the textbook and supplemental CD, Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology by Donald Rizzo. Also included are lesson notes, multi-media videos, interactive educational games, and full-color anatomical drawings to amplify course content. Multiple quizzes and comprehensive weekly assessments assure mastery of the material.

As an online course, students can access Anatomy & Physiology for Coders 24/7.

The course has received prior approval for 24 continuing education units (CEUs) from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and 6 continuing education units (CEUs) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
