Stakeholder Input Builds Better Holiday Events Downtown

Nov. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Main Street Chillicothe in Chillicothe, MO, spent time last summer polling merchants to discover what works, and what doesn't, in the city's holiday event calendar. As a result, some aspects of the holiday promotion will remain the same but others will be tweaked to better meet merchants' needs.

Merchants recommended expanding a series of Thursday evening events and to continue the popular "snowball drop" in which ping pong ball "snowballs" inked with store discounts and specials snow down on the waiting public.

The write-in portion of the survey also produced some good promotion ideas, says Crystal Narr, director of Main Street Chillicothe. "One that we really liked is that in the days leading up to an event, to give all the merchants downtown mini candy canes with labels on them containing the event information. That gets thrown into the bag with every purchase and gives customers a visual reminder.
