New York City-based singer-songwriter, pianist and author Lachi will be redirecting 100% of proceeds from the "Raise Your Voice" benefit concert to be held this Friday, November 9th at NYC’s Webster Hall to help Hurricane Sandy victims in lower Manhattan.  Originally planned to raise awareness and funds for the anti-bullying foundation Kindness Above Malice, the Nov. 9th concert will now benefit the non-profit organization Good Old Lower East Side (GOLES).  Joining Lachi in this effort are pop/rock and hip hop artists iPhonic and ILLSpokinn along with the comedic storytelling series Yum’s The Word, featuring 30 Rock's Sue Galloway.  Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm.

Given the recent devastation to families and businesses across New York City, independent artist Lachi decided to take action to help the more immediate need of providing funds to help hurricane victims in her City.  She and the other artists on the bill made the decision to give all of the proceeds for the concert to GOLES, a non-profit organization started in 1977 to aid neighborhood housing and preservation in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.  They have served over 2,000 families each year, and thousands more through their organizing, training and education work.  GOLES is currently providing aid to families who have suffered loss or damages during last week's hurricane.

Originally, Lachi had teamed up with other NYC-based artists from the hip hop and comedy worlds to organize this event on November 9th to benefit Kindness Above Malice (KAM), a foundation that supports anti-bullying efforts.  "We decided to help our fellow neighbors in Manhattan who need more immediate support," says Lachi.  Lachi plans to hold future event to benefit KAM.

More details on the Benefit Concert for GOLES
Lachi will be supported by three differing acts and artists during the benefit. Storytelling act Yum’s The Word, which brings various comedians and storytellers from around the city to share a birthday party with a member of the audience and to wax on past experiences, will be opening the evening at 7 p.m., with a special guest appearance by actress and comedic writer Sue Galloway (30 Rock, freelance writer for SNL's Weekend Update). Homemade ice cream cakes and balloon animals will also be given to the first 50 people courtesy of Yum’s the Word. Also on the bill are pop-rock band iPhonic at 8 p.m. followed by special guest rapper ILLSpokinn.

In addition to live music, there will be a silent auction for an autographed Paul McCartney guitar, some autographed Beatles, Dylan and U2 albums, a signed 30 Rock script, a signed copy of Tina Fey's Bossypants along with many other great items, and a raffle for even more great giveaways!  There will also be an art installation by photographer/designer Jeff Lagasca who has captured the social landscape of NYC since 2006, including NYC's music scene and movements such as Occupy Wall Street and #bikenyc.

Lachi will take the stage at 9 p.m., performing songs from her upcoming album Make Some Noise, which releases in January 2013. Tickets for the evening are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
