Retectix, a St. Louis Medical Device Company Wins Again

Nov. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Retectix, a St. Louis-based medical device company specializing in nanofabricated biomaterials and surgical meshes, won two $1000 grants from the 2012 St. Louis Arch Angels and BioSTL, respectively through StartUp Connection.  Retectx will use these grant awards to advance the first product from their portfolio, Cerafix™ Dural Substitute, which is a novel cloth-like surgical material specifically designed for closure of dural defects following neurosurgical procedures. Cerafix™ Dural Substitute is composed of a proprietary material consisting of multiple layers of synthetic nanofibers, which mimic the natural extracellular structure of native dura mater and accelerates wound healing.

Since its inception in 2010, Retectix has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants for its technological innovation and commercialization strategy.  Most recently Retectix won Third place in the St. Louis Regional Business Plan Competition.  Retectix also won the 2011 Olin Cup Award (Olin School of Business, Washington University, St. Louis, MO), Grand Prize at the 2011 LES Global Business Plan Competition (International Licensing Executives Society, London, England), and First Place at the 2011 I2P Global Competition (I2P, University of Texas, Stockholm, Sweden).
