Mac Hammond’s Church Makes Thanksgiving Easier for Families
On Saturday, November 17, volunteers from Living Word Christian Center will deliver 750 free Thanksgiving meals to families in need. This has been a tradition at Living Word for the past 12 years.
Living Word, which is led by Pastors Mac and Lynne Hammond, has included Thanksgiving Baskets as a part of their annual outreaches for the past 12 years.
Living Word members give financially to this outreach; they also give of their time to deliver the baskets to the families the Saturday before Thanksgiving. As one volunteer stated last year, “It was a blessing [to volunteer and] to see the people’s faces and that they were so thankful!”
This year, Living Word’s outreach pastor, Phil Winn, hopes to have 300 people deliver the 750 baskets to the community, which is an increase to the number of baskets they delivered in 2011. Winn recognizes what Pastor Mac Hammond has made clear to the church: “Nothing significant happens in our lives until we begin to serve the needs of others.”
Founded in 1980, Living Word Christian Center is a local, nondenominational church in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, led by Pastor Mac Hammond. Through various ministries and outreaches, Living Word reaches people, touches lives, and makes a difference.
