Nov. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- A handful of class alumni have found each other recently through Facebook and the idea of an official RJH class of 1964 reunion was quickly hatched.  Class members and Christy Johnson-Heinrich and Patrick Geary have volunteered to serve as class administrators while a ‘reunion committee’ is established.

This reunion will be the class of 1964’s first (possibly making it annual!) official gathering since graduating from Ramstein Jr. High School in the mid-sixties and an all-out effort has begun to locate each and every member of the class.  However, due to lack of personal information and the fact that all the class members hail from military families that relocated quite often, the search has proven to be quite difficult.

To date, 11 out of 170 classmates have been located.  It’s too early to tell how successful the RJH Alumni finding effort or the reunion itself will turn out to be.

“The success of this reunion is dependent on us finding as many Ramstein Jr. High 1964 Alumni as possible.” said Christy Johnson-Heinrich, taking a break from her internet people searching efforts.

“Locating all our classmates have turned out to be so much more challenging than I had anticipated. All we have to go on is their name and the fact that their father was in the USAF… and that’s not much, even with all the help that the Internet provides.”

She continued, “We have reached out through Facebook and sites like Classmates.com and ClassReport.org with sporadic success, but our goal of finding everybody from the RJH class of 1964 will certainly take a herculean effort.”

“We desperately need the assistance of anyone who attended or has ties to Ramstein Jr. High in the mid-sixties. “

Co-administrator Patrick Geary adds, “We have begun to spread the word about the 50th Reunion Celebration by first creating a website (http://www.rjhs.stonecarvertech.com), then a Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ramstein-Junior-High-School-Class-of-1964/480298348668221) and profiles on various reunion and social networking websites that are accessed through our website.  We are also publishing a series of press releases online but I am becoming increasingly concerned that it may be difficult to reach any alumni who are not active online.”

Patrick added, “In the end, I am confident that we will find a fair amount of our classmates.  In a short time our RJH alumni group has grown from 0 to 11 people, and we still have over a year to go until the actual reunion, but it will take quite a bit of sleuthing and Internet research to make this reunion a success!”

Preliminary plans for the reunion include three days in Reno, Nevada (July 18th, 19th, 20th, 2014).

On the agenda: reminiscing about the good old days, getting reacquainted with old friends and with any luck - making a few new ones along the way.  Reno offers a slew of choices when it comes to locations, and possible reunion venues are currently being sorted out by the reunion committee, but the Peppermill Casino, the Nuggest Hotel/Casino and Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) are all front-runners at the moment.

In 1964 Ramstein Jr. High School was located on Ramstein Air Force Base (RAFB).  Built in 1948, Ramstein Airbase is a U.S. Air Force base in the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz.  It serves as headquarters for the U.S. Air Forces in Europe and is also a North Atlantic Treaty Organization installation.  RAFB is located near the town of Ramstein, in the rural district of Kaiserslautern, Germany.
