Partial proceeds benefit Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif., November 1, 2012 – Savas Beatie LLC and Art of Cigars have partnered with best-selling author (Once a Marine) and speaker Nick “Gunny Pop” Popaditch— “The Cigar Marine”—to launch a line of cigars with a portion of the proceeds to benefit the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.

In recognition of the Marine Corps Birthday and Veteran’s Day, the cigar line will be launched at a special event held Nov. 10, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. at Art of Cigars (2222 Francisco Drive, Suite 470, El Dorado Hills, Calif.). Popaditch was immortalized as “The Cigar Marine” when an AP photographer captured him with a cigar on his battle tank just before Saddam’s iconic statue was pulled down in Firdos Square in 2003. The first two premium hand-rolled cigars released under “The Cigar Marine” line are “The Gunny” (a double-wrapped Torpedo) and “The Tanker” (a mild spiced-rum Corona). The cigars will be designed and distributed by Art of Cigars (http://www.artofcigars.com/), in cooperation with Popaditch’s publisher Savas Beatie LLC (http://www.savasbeatie.com/).

Managing Director Theodore Savas, of Savas Beatie, agreed. “Nick is the epitome of a Marine, and was himself severely wounded in combat,” explained Savas. “The Semper Fi Fund helps the wounded and their families. This is a win-win for everyone.”
