Aurora, ON, Nov. 1, 2012
- Prime Data has expanded their in-house print capabilities delivering faster turnaround times and reduced printing costs with the purchase of a new state-of-the art waterless, environmentally-friendly printer.

“Clients want -- and may be legally required -- to have suppliers that meet their corporate social responsibility guidelines,” says Steve Falk, President of Prime Data. “This provides a challenge to the direct mail and printing industry that relies heavily on paper and transportation. Prime Data is fully committed to sustainability and the environment and consider both in every business decision we make.”

Prime recognized an opportunity to improve turnaround times, control production schedules and reduce costs by investing in a four-colour printer with large volume capabilities. Already an FSC certified company, Prime Data chose the Presstek 52D1 ( printer for its environmental advantages. Its waterless technology means there are no vapours, drips or solvents escaping during print runs, meeting air quality emissions standards for presses. It also means better colour saturation is achieved.

Because more print work is now done in-house, this move also further supports the environment by reducing the need for hundreds of product deliveries to Prime Data’s fulfillment warehouse.

Touted by Presstek as “the most efficient, productive and profitable digital offset printing press ever brought to market in its size,” the printer is highly automated, and prints bigger, more colourful projects faster and with greater profitability. A savings Prime passes on to its clients.

And the difference is paying off. In the first week of its arrival a client wanted to add a four-colour slip into a job in progress with a two-day turnaround to meet the mail date. With flexibility and control of the process, Prime met the challenge and left the client completely satisfied.
