Sports Tours International launches first travel package for Tour de France 2013
Sports Tours International, one of the UK's largest specialist sports travel companies, has unveiled its first travel package for the Tour de France 2013, the 100th edition of the event.
The package consists of a week on Corsica, watching the first three stages and riding on this stunning island. Having been operating trips to the Tour de France for almost 20 years, Sports Tours International is well-versed in the inner workings of the event and has the knowledge and expertise to provide exceptional travel packages.
"We pride ourselves on knowing exactly where to take you and helping you get the most authentic experience from your visit," a spokesperson for Sports Tours International said. "With our travel packages, you'll get to ride your bike on some of the most famous roads of this legendary race, where the likes of Ullrich, Pantani and Merckx have competed in epic battles. And who knows, you may even spot one of the legends of the Tour de France as we travel across the country."
Bradley Wiggins was victorious in last year's Tour de France for Team Sky, becoming the first British cyclist to ever win the race. Many experts agreed that the 2012 edition of the race was one of the most difficult in the Tour's history, incorporating more climbs on the route than ever before.
All eyes will now be on the 100th Tour de France, which will see the race's famous start moved to Corsica – 'The Island of Beauty' – for the very first time. The race will commence on Saturday 29 June and will take in the cities of Porto-Vecchio, Bastia, Ajaccio and Calvi in its first three stages.
Sports Tours International will be announcing more packages for the Tour de France 2013 soon, so anyone looking to take advantage of its experience and expertise should sign up to the company's newsletter for regular updates.
In addition to the Tour de France, Sports Tours International will be providing a travel package for the Etape du Tour. This provides riders with a chance to compete on some of the Tour de France's most famous roads and take in some of the greatest climbs in cycling history.
If you're interested in competing in the Etape du Tour, a lot of serious training is required in the months preceding the event. The race is a fast cyclo sportive that requires riders to maintain a strong pace and have the stamina to go the full distance.
