Oct. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- BabyGearLab.com, a baby product testing and review site, released the results of its 2012-2013 Editors’ Choice awards for disposable baby diapers today. Chosen from a selection of 20 leading disposable diapers, the winners stood out from their competitors when tested for their absorbency, eco-health, leakage/fit, and comfort. Tests were conducted in a lab environment and also in everyday baby use. BabyGearLab.com awarded one diaper in each of three categories: Editor’s Choice for the overall best diaper; Top Pick for the best green diaper; and the diaper with the Best Value. The award-winners are presented below:

¨     Earth’s Best TenderCare Chlorine Free diapers took the prize for the Editor’s Choice Award, the best overall diaper. Pediatrician Dr. Juliet Spurrier, founder of BabyGearLab.com, stated that,  “We were very pleased to discover that the Earth’s Best brand not only rated very high on its absorbance and comfort tests, even when compared to leading brands like Huggies and Pampers, but also offered an eco-friendly and hypoallergenic option for those sensitive to both the environment and price.

¨     Our Top Pick Award for Best Green Diaper went to the BAMBO Nature disposable diaper. “The BAMBO out-performed all other diapers across the board, including leakage, comfort and absorbency factors; and, considering its significant eco- and health-friendly attributes, was not the most expensive diaper in the group.” Dr. Spurrier added, “. I was so impressed with the BAMBO diapers that I now use them on my own kids.”

¨     The Up & Up (Target brand) disposable diaper won the Best Value Award. “At a cost about 40% less than name-brand diapers like Huggies and Pampers,” Dr. Spurrier said, “the Up & Up diaper performed better than Huggies and about the same as Pampers in our tests. Significantly, Up & Up outperformed other private label big-box brands in the test, including Costco’s Kirkland Signature, Babies R Us Supreme, and Walmart’s Parent’s Choice. We were especially impressed with how much better the Up & Up diaper did in our performance tests when compared to the similarly low-priced competitor, the Parent’s Choice (Walmart brand) diaper.”

In response to requests for buying advice, BabyGearLab.com has published an article on its website entitled, “How to Select the Best Disposable Diaper” for parents and caregivers seeking well-informed and educated tips on which variables to consider when choosing disposable diapers. The article addresses questions on how to balance ecological and health factors with other concerns like cost, leakage and comfort.
