Bathys Hawaii Watch Company Announces New Benthic Ti:kevlar

Oct. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- Bathys Hawaii has announced the upcoming release of its new BENTHIC TI: KEVLAR timepiece. Featuring a combination of materials that would be equally at ease on a racecar or a spacecraft, the Benthic Ti Kevlar has been specially designed and engineered to withstand extremes of temperature, pressure, and wear. In fact over 98% of the watch by weight is made up of only 5 materials: titanium, brass, sapphire, leather, and Kevlar®.

Specifications reflect an austere, uncompromising design ethic. The all-titanium case is milled from a single chunk of grade 5 titanium. The internally-coated anti-reflective sapphire crystal is a massive 3.97mm thick. The jeweled solid-brass Ronda 7003.N quartz movement is the largest Swiss quartz movement in production and features two complications: a large date window at 6:00 and a retrograde day display at 12:00.

Designer and Bathys Hawaii Owner Dr. John Patterson tried to consider every bad thing that might happen to a watch and chose materials to cope with diverse harsh environments. However as he tried to source genuine Kevlar for the strap he ran into some difficulties:

“We kept receiving sample straps that were being called “Kevlar” when in fact they were urethane-coated nylon” says Patterson.  “The problem is that real Kevlar is hard to cut and sew. Finally after two years of searching, we found a source of genuine Kevlar and worked with them to create a custom strap. The specs of this new strap are amazing: it’s heat resistant to 600 degrees, cold resistant to -190, and has a tensile strength of 2200 pounds. And plus it looks pretty cool.”

Available in a limited edition of 100 pieces, the Benthic Ti: Kevlar is slated to be another popular timepiece with the small number of people who have discovered the brand. Says Patterson about his customers, “We basically don’t advertise, so most of our sales are to people who already own one, two, or even a dozen or more Bathys watches. In fact over 55% of our sales are like this. With such a loyal client base, we strive hard to take good care of each person as an individual, and I think that’s been the secret to our success. The truth is there’s not many options for genuine Swiss-Made watches under $1000 anymore.”

         The BENTHIC TI:KEVLAR is a limited edition of 100 pieces. The price is $595 and the watch will be first available in the Bathys Hawaii Online Store beginning Midnight EST November 1, 2012.
