Nov. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- In his latest feature article for Fresh Vancouver magazine, Smile City Square Dental’s Dr. Kelvin Mah focuses on the difference between how some dentists see only patients – when instead they should be seeing people.

“An individual in a dentist’s chair is more than a patient,” Dr. Mah writes. “He or she is an authentic and unique person, and is entitled to be engaged as one. In doing that, dentistry is elevated far above treatments and methods, procedures and techniques to where it has always truly belonged: in the honest, caring and transformative service of people; body, mind and soul.”

To illustrate his inspiring, people-centric philosophy - one that has been a defining cultural feature at his Smile City Square Dental practice since day one - Dr. Mah introduces his readers to Mike, a busy executive with a strong personal philosophy and value system who felt that his mercury fillings were not aligned with his personal beliefs and professional outlook.

As Dr. Mah writes: “Mike’s existing mercury fillings no longer fit who he was, and where he was going with his career and life. As an executive manager for a company leading the way in corporate social responsibility, he wanted restorations that aligned with that holistic worldview, and at the same time, were natural, durable and highly functional. He also wanted to enhance his appearance, so that the confidence and strength he felt within could be freely expressed through his smile without any trace of hesitation or self-consciousness.”

To achieve all of the above, and cater to Mike the person – and not just Mike the patient – Dr. Mah removed the worrisome mercury fillings and replaced them via CEREC: a high tech CAD-CAM technology used by qualified cosmetic dentists to craft precise-fitting, metal-free, natural-looking, and incredible strong permanent ceramic dental restorations in a single visit.
