Oct. 31, 2012 - PRLog -- For the participating children and teens of Massachusetts’ Ultimate Sports Program, the annual Boston Celtics Experience November 17 offers a memorable game experience on the famed parquet floor of Boston’s TD Garden.

“There are a number of kids who are experiencing this for the first time and they are very excited about the opportunity to be ‘part’ of something so big,” said Ultimate Sports Program’s Program Director, Steve Berube. “About half of the kids participating on the floor have some sort of special need.”

Teaming with the Boston Celtics and the Ultimate Sports Program to support the sixth annual USP Boston Celtics Experience, World T.E.A.M. Sports is providing jerseys for the 24 children playing in a special halftime contest before the Saturday afternoon audience for the National Basketball Association’s Celtics-Toronto Raptors game. Another six young girls will participate in the halftime activities as a dance squad, similar to the Celtics Dancers, to cheer on the young players. All dancers and athletes will form a fan tunnel to welcome the Celtics back on court for the second half.

"World T.E.A.M. Sports is proud to support USPkids,” said World T.E.A.M.’s CEO and President, Paul Tyler. “We completely support their mission to get kids with disabilities involved in sports as if they had no disabilities. We believe that sports can change lives for kids as well as adults."

Ultimate Sports Program is a program of Massachusetts’ non-profit organization, The Association for Community Living. Creating sporting programs in football, basketball, sled hockey and many outdoor activities for special needs children and teens age six to 21, Ultimate Sports Program has worked closely with World T.E.A.M. Sports for several years.

“Teaming up with World T.E.A.M. Sports is very important to USP as our goals are the same, using sports to teach the very easy lesson of simply enjoying each other’s company without regard to our differences,” said Berube. “We hope to continue our relationship with both World T.E.A.M. Sports and the Boston Celtics for years to come.”

“Our mission is ‘Social Inclusion through Sports,’ and having a great event with the Celtics helps us grow the number of families who participate,” said Berube. It is anticipated that over 100 Ultimate Sports Program members and their families will attend the regionally-televised game.
