Queensland Outdoor Recreation Awards - Award Winners Congratulated!

Queensland Outdoor Recreation Award winners announced in Brisbane overnight.
 
Oct. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Outstanding efforts by individuals and organisations in the Queensland outdoor recreation sector were recognised tonight at the 11th annual Queensland Outdoor Recreation Awards at the Greek Club in Brisbane. QORF CEO Dr Donna Little says, “The Awards celebrate the achievements, innovation and professionalism in the outdoor sector in Queensland. There’s a great story behind every finalist and the awards provide the chance for these often unseen heros to receive the recognition they deserve”.

Established in 2002, the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Awards aim to recognise the size and diversity of the outdoor sector and to highlight the importance of outdoor recreation to the lifestyle of Queenslanders. The Queensland Outdoor Recreation Awards includes eight categories to recognise and reward excellence in outdoor recreation and celebrate individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution to the outdoor recreation sector.

The winners in 2012 for each category are:

The Queensland Government Outstanding Achievement (Individual) Award - Rebecca Fox, Manager, Kindilan OECC, from Redlands

The Brisbane City Council Outstanding Achievement (Organisation) Award -Joint winners - Scouts Australia Institute of Training, Bald Hills and Adventure Alternatives, Woodford

The K2 Basecamp Encouragement Award - Nathan Sears, Venturer Scouts Queensland, from Capalaba

The Queensland Government Encouraging Participation in Outdoor Recreation Award - Motorcycling Queensland, Queensland Moto Park, Wyaralong

The Queensland Government Environmental Award - Logan Community Trailcare Alliance, Logan City Council, Logan

The Fitness Sport & Recreation Skills Alliance Excellence in Outdoor Instruction and Education Award - Edmund Rice Education Flexible Learning Centre Network, Queensland

The Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation Government Achievement Award - Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), for the 2012 Outdoor Recreation operational policies and Memoranda of Understanding

The Brisbane City Council Outdoor Event Award - Kokoda Challenge, organised by the Kokoda Challenge Association, based in Southport, Qld
