Oct. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- Land O’ Lakes, FL October 25, 2012 – Community Social Networks are the newest form of social networking.  They are limited to people living in and around the community, or having a special interest in the community.  They don’t replace global social networks, but enable members to meet people locally through membership in a community network.

OurTownPlus.com brings community social networking to Tampa Bay with the most advanced platform to date.  Six networks were launched last week, including Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater, Brandon, Plant City, and a single network for Land O’ Lakes, Lutz, and Wesley Chapel.  There’s no charge to become a member and participate in the networks.

With the OurTownPlus.com networks you can request to be friends with members to build relationships, post updates about yourself and your organization, list your organization in the directory, participate in contests and access coupons, place classified ads, register upcoming events, create free websites, create private and public groups, and participate in forums.  Users have control over their personal information and the friendships they maintain.

“The most important advantage of Community Social Networks over large, global networks is they allow us to proactively meet and interact with people we don’t already know, rather than waiting for them to find us online,” Allan McNabb said, VP of Image Building Media, LLC.

To join one of the Tampa Bay networks, visit OurTownPlus.com and select a network.  Then register to become a member.  On the registration page you click on a link to get a registration code, which will check to see if your computer connection originates in the state of Florida.  After you have the code, you can continue the registration.

“Using a registration code to make sure the computer connection is in Florida eliminates people from all over the world joining the network, which would defeat the purpose of a ‘Community’ Social Network.  People living outside of Florida with a valid interest in the community can contact the administrators and request the code for registration,” McNabb said, explaining the registration process.
