Follow on Google News | Smiles for Survivors Foundation Raises Nearly $15,000 at its 2nd Annual Blow Out Breast Cancer EventEvent at Square Colour Salon + Spa included food, cocktails, live entertainment and a silent auction
By: Forte Creative Media PR “The continued support of the Las Vegas community allows Smiles for Survivors to provide oral rehabilitation for breast cancer survivors and help educate the public on the oral side effects of cancer, which sadly touches so many of our lives,” said Dr. Olya Banchik, founder of the non-profit. “We are especially grateful to the dentists and oral surgeons who donate their time to the organization, without whom we could not offer these services.” The SFS network provides services on a pro-bono basis and has performed more than 40 procedures on local breast cancer patients and survivors to help restore their oral health by repairing damage and alleviating pain caused by cancer treatment. Karen Goldsmith, a local breast cancer survivor who was recently helped by SFS addressed the crowd at the event, “I know in my heart that I can never thank Dr. Olya Banchik, Dr. Bradley Strong and Dr. Mark Degen enough for the wonderful new smile they have provided for me,” she said. Following her cancer treatment, Goldsmith’s teeth started to decay and chip away. She then lost her fixed bridges and began having difficulty chewing, feeling her teeth breaking while eating. “I sincerely hope and pray that this wonderful foundation gets all the recognition that it deserves, along with the support of our community to allow them to continue with the services that they provide to breast cancer patients.” Sponsors of the event included Cadillac of Las Vegas, Khavkin Facial Plastic Surgery and Square Colour Salon + Spa. Guests enjoyed the sounds of DJ Dray Gardner and satisfied their culinary and cocktail cravings with appetizers, desserts and drinks donated by Agave Las Vegas, B Sweet Candy Boutique, Embers Grille & Spirits, Good Karma Pretzels, Incredible Events, Karma Tequila, Rachel’s Kitchen and Via Brasil Steakhouse.
