Oct. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- This winter, Canary Wharf will unveil its stunning ice rink, set under the impressive towers surrounding Canada Square Park. Returning for the eighth time but now under new management, and proudly sponsored by Hublot and Prime Location, this year’s ‘Ice Rink Canary Wharf’ will be bigger and better than ever. The 800m2 rink features London’s first ‘skate path’, leading skaters on a glittering trail through trees lit by fairy lights.

Skate lessons will be available to everyone throughout the day, from fully-qualified and certified National Ice Skating Association (NISA) coaches. With experience competing in numerous British championships and passing on tips to the celebs on ITV’s Dancing on Ice, the team will have you spinning around the loop like a seasoned skater!

Ice Rink Canary Wharf are proud to support the local schools by offering the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Schools Programme, inviting budding Torvill & Deans to take a spin on the ice with their classmates, accompanied by qualified coaches, for a free hour’s skating.

Eating & Drinking

A pop up Boisdale on Ice bar brought to you by Boisdale of Canary Wharf, will offer the perfect place to relax rink-side, get in the festive spirit and watch other skaters having fun on the skate path. Menus will include their legendary burgers, hot mince pies and famous haggis sausage rolls, as well as mulled wine and a great selection of their award winning wines, malt whiskies and beers. A viewing terrace provides great views of the skate path and spectacular Big Blue sculpture by Ron Arad.

To complete the offering, Boisdale on Ice will feature a Wright Brothers Oyster Shack, which will be shucking oysters and serving Champagne every evening from Monday to Saturday.

Don’t miss Sinatra on Ice every Tuesday. Beginning on the 13th November and running every Tuesday right through till Christmas, the Boisdale on Ice bar will feature TJ Johnson & His Band playing Sinatra’s greatest hits.

In addition, a variety of fun filled family days and exciting themed evenings – including Date Night, with amorous all inclusive menus, a Bollywood Night and a Dancing Queen Abba Night – will provide the perfect excuse for celebrating at Ice Rink Canary Wharf. Magnums of Perrier Jouet NV Champagne as prizes for skaters who best reflect the theme of the evening will be also be a regular feature of these evenings.

Ice Rink Canary Wharf and Boisdale on Ice also presents a novel alternative to the traditional Christmas Party, offering everything from skating, a range of gourmet canapé supper menus and drinks, to live bands and DJs. Contact the events team for more information (

Ice Rink Canary Wharf will this year host Starlight’s 12 Days of Christmas Run. At 12:12pm on 12 December 2012, hundreds of festive runners will complete a 1.2 mile course around the Canary Wharf Estate to help raise funds for Starlight's Christmas of Happiness Campaign.  The campaign aims to restore the magic of Christmas to the thousands of children in hospital and the funds raised will grant magical wishes and provide festive entertainment to seriously and terminally ill children in London.  Boisdale on Ice will provide festive treats to all runners taking part.

Boasting excellent shopping and dining facilities, Canary Wharf is home to 240 shops, bars and restaurants, and throughout Christmas will also feature a magical Santa’s Grotto, festive fashion shows, ice sculpting, face painting and glass decorating, making it the perfect place for a Christmas day out with friends or family.

Proud sponsor, Hublot said: “Hublot are delighted to be one of the main sponsors of the Ice Rink Canary Wharf.  Innovation is a key criteria behind the brand, and we feel that the link to the UK’s first ice skating track is on the same level as creating a first in watch making. We are delighted to be able to work with our retail customer Charles Fish and hope that this opportunity increases Hublot’s brand awareness in Canary Wharf”.  Grant Hopper, Hublot UK, Brand Manager.

About Boisdale of Canary Wharf

Boisdale of Canary Wharf opened in summer 2011. The two-floor venue overlooking Cabot Square comprises restaurant, oyster bar and grill, whisky bar, Cuban cigar library and shop and live music venue (

The second floor restaurant is decorated in the instantly recognisable Boisdale signature look of lacquer red and dark green walls hung with eclectic and original artwork. It is here that one can find the whisky bar, a 12 metre long ‘amber wall of liquid gold’ that holds over 1000 bottles of malt whisky. The restaurant’s music programme comes with the seal of approval of no less than Jools Holland, Boisdale’s ‘patron of music’. On the programme packed with the best in jazz, blues and soul, highlights have included performances by the likes of eight-time Grammy award winner Chucho Valdes, The Congo Faith Healers, Mitch Winehouse and Mud Morganfield.
