Eco-credentials & cost savings for retail & hospitality as J2 launches first ‘own-brand' printer

The J2 101 has been bespoke-designed and built for the J2 customer base by Star Micronics EMEA, whose TSP100 ECO printer J2 has been reselling for the past two years. Suited to all sectors of the retail,  hospitality and leisure industries, the J2 101 demonstrably increases printing efficiency and reduces operating costs. It is also exceptionally quiet to operate, so does not interfere with the retail experience or intrude in a hospitality environment.

J2’s CEO and co-founder, Moray Boyd, explains the rationale behind this development. “In everything we do, we strive towards exceptional reliability and longevity.  However, as POS performance can be impeded by the attachment of a low-quality printer, it made sense to have a unit custom-built for the pressures that our customers experience at point-of-sale. The J2 101 is the first of a new range of quality J2-branded peripherals, driven by our culture of reducing costs through reliability,” he says.

The new J2 101 is the only UK printer to offer a 10cm diameter paper roll capacity (58mm and 80mm widths), providing 60% more paper than an average roll.  Paper saving, lower transport and storage costs and the need for fewer roll changes all reduce the cost per receipt and contribute to the unit’s eco-credentials.
   
Designed for use in the toughest of retail and hospitality environments, the J2 101 comes with a splashproof/dustproof casing, a quick and easy ‘drop in and print’ loading function, and intelligent construction that prevents water from flowing into the reverse-mounted Printed Circuit Board (PCB). A covered LEC indicator also prevents water ingress.

The J2 101 is capable of high-speed receipt processing of 250mm/second. A performance tolerance of 60 million lines MCBF (Mean Cycles Between Failure) gives users the confidence of an exceptionally long unit life.
