New York-london Artist Chooses South Florida As Headquarters

Oct. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Jabo Gallery joins forces with neighboring merchants to raise funds for Center for Creative Education

(West Palm Beach, Fla.---) Javier Bohorquez, internationally renowned photographer and contemporary media artist recognized under Jabo, recently opened his flagship gallery in West Palm Beach’s Northwood Corridor.  Bohorquez’s works have been recognized in notable publications such as National Geographic’s Top 35 photos (2009), What Digital Camera Magazine, United Kingdom (2011), and nominated for Best Amateur Photographer of the Year at the 5th Annual Photography Masters Cup (2011).

Northwood restaurateurs Wayne and Catherine Devers, and Turgut Kaytmaz are joining efforts with Jabo Gallery to host a fundraiser for the Center for Creative Education (CCE) on Thursday, November 8th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Food will be catered by Jade Kitchen and wine will be provided by Café Centro.

Jabo Gallery is currently previewing Javier’s new ‘Black and White’ exhibit. “Most of these works are very abstract and contemporary. The images are very organic, sensual and evoke lots of movement,” says Bohorquez.   An original Jabo 32”x48” digital photograph entitled, Crocus in Blue, valued at $2,400 will be donated for auction. In support of the non-profit organization, the host committee requests a minimum donation of $20 for admittance.

The Center for Creative Education uses the arts to enrich and transform a child's educational experience both in the classroom, and in after-school settings. CCE provided programming to more than 11,500 underprivileged youth in a record number of 118 schools and after-school sites throughout the county last year. About Javier Bohorquez

 Javier Bohorquez is a photographer and a contemporary new media artist based in NYC. His work is being recognized under Jabo (Javier Bohorquez). The foundation of his digital artwork is based upon his photographs. His creative process involves layers of imagination that create powerful compositions where color plays a dominant role.

For Jabo, color is a strong driving force that comes from his Latin roots.

His technical skills were gained from studies done at leading schools such as the International Center of Photography in New York and the Applied Art School in Amagansett, New York. His work has been exhibited in galleries in New York City, The Hamptons, NY, Minneapolis, MN and South Florida

Additionally, he has had the opportunity to attend a number of seminars with both talented and gifted photographers such as Scott Kelby, a master in digital photography. But after all, experimenting has been his biggest teacher! He is amazed at how things do not always seem what they look like. “There is a surprise factor that we should always keep in mind,” Bohorquez says.

Originally from Colombia, Javier earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Nutrition and Genetics in 1996 and dedicated his efforts to work with pure bred dogs for 12 years. He relocated to New York City in June 2001 from Colombia. His passion for nature and design motivated him to go back to school for the Landscape Architecture program at The City College of New York where he completed his studies in 2006.
