Follow on Google News | McManus Comedies in Mountain Home Idaho October 19th 2012Watch Tim Behrens Perform Scrambled McManus in Mountain Home Idaho Friday at 7pm
By: Jamie Lynn Morgan Excerpts from these full-length comedies form the separate school shows. Also, we offer separate “conference/ Each comedy has its own through-line and themes. Each features a host of denizens from Pat’s fictional home town of Blight, Idaho (6 miles south of Famine, Idaho), where Pat grew up poor. (So poor his favorite toy was dirt.) Tim portrays more than 40 of these zany characters, like Rancid Crabtree, who doesn’t take baths because he thinks soap and water will eat holes in his protective crust; like Melba Peachbottom, the prettiest girl in three counties who’s Pat’s first date; like 100-year-old Ed, who, even when he races about, you can’t detect motion with the naked eye; not to mention Olga Bonemarrow and a space alien named Zork. Tim uses a simple change of voice and posture to realize these personalities, so most of the humor and the action take place in the imagination of the audience! Many diehard and longtime McManus fans come to the theatre. Most don’t usually frequent live theatre, so this represents an opportunity for presenters to introduce a new audience to their venue: folk who have read Pat’s humorous fiction in Field and Stream or Outdoor Life magazines for years…or know it from one of his 23 best-selling books…..and they delight in this transformation from the Page to the Stage. For those who don’t know McManus, think Bill Cosby crossed with Mark Twain, seasoned with Garrison Keillor End
