Follow on Google News | IJIS Institute Wins Two BJA Grant AwardsThe IJIS Institute was recently awarded two Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) grants related to the technology of information sharing.
The primary goal of the corrections grant is to implement a standards-based information sharing capability for an offender information exchange in jurisdictions that will demonstrate the societal value of sharing such information. These pilot implementations will further demonstrate the effectiveness of the use of the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) and Global Reference Architecture (GRA)-conformant exchanges. The BJA has awarded the IJIS Institute a second grant for Justice Information Sharing Training and Technology Assistance. To fulfill the goal of this grant, the Institute will deliver training courses on justice information sharing-related topics. Currently, this training is comprised entirely of the NIEM Practical Implementers course. Soon, however, training on Global Reference Architecture (GRA), Global Federated Identity and Privilege Management (GFIPM), and other information sharing resources will be added to the Institute’s training curriculum. Steve Ambrosini, the IJIS Institute’s executive director, said, “The IJIS Institute is grateful for these recent awards. The new grant for correctional agency information sharing speaks to our growth in information sharing in general, but also speaks to our increased focus on the corrections domain. The Justice Information Sharing Training and Technology Assistance grant, meanwhile, shows our continued interest and strength in NIEM training, which we look forward to supplementing with new course offerings very soon.” http://www.ijis.org/_ End
