Local Grocery To Sell Pink Pumpkins This Fall In Support Of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness

Oct. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C. – The Kroger Co.  (http://www.kroger.com/), the nation’s largest traditional grocery retailer with 16 stores throughout the Triangle and North Carolina, has announced that its stores will be selling Porcelain Doll Variety Pink Pumpkins in support of October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month. These newly-grown pink pumpkins were established by the Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation, which was created to aid in the fight against breast cancer research. Participating pumpkin growers have committed to giving a percentage of their proceeds from each pumpkin sold this year to organizations involved in breast cancer research. The Pink Pumpkin Patch Foundation will oversee the research contributions and will ensure that all funds go directly to reputable organizations where the highest percentage of dollars is spent on research efforts.

The pink pumpkins will come from growers across the United States, including three from North Carolina – Travis Nix of Hendersonville, Bottomley Evergreens and Farms of Ennice and Andrews Tree Farms of Sparta.

QUOTES:
