Oct. 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Many people take up a hobby for something to do in their spare time. Acquiring a hobby can be relaxing and fun. Some folks enjoy arts and crafts when it comes to hobbies. Are you thinking of trying a new hobby? Indulging in a craft project can be fun for the whole family. There are many crafts you can try, but if you’re new to the world of crafts you might want to try something simple. Now that summer has arrived you can think of fun summer crafts. Maybe you can paint a bird house or a rock for your flower garden. These two crafts are easy crafts for the novice crafty person. You can have the whole family jump in on the action for an afternoon or an evening of fun. These crafts are only a couple of crafts out of many you can do with the family. Your children will enjoy making fun crafts over the summer. You don’t need to send the children away to summer camp to have them make some creative crafts. Although you might want to send them to camp for that much needed summer break. Do you remember making pot holders from Popsicle sticks? If you went to camp as a child chances are you made a pot holder from pieces of tiles and Popsicle sticks. You may have made ceramic bowls at summer camp. No matter what you made at camp, you were able to make something with your own hands. After you spent time making your hand made craft, you took it home to proudly show off to mom and dad. Those craft memories are memories that will be etched in your brain for-ever. Chances are your mom and dad still has that pot holder or ceramic bowl sitting on a table in a room of the house. Now it’s your turn to take the kids to camp so they can create their own memories. But even if your children don’t go to camp, they can still make craft memories from home. The hardest thing you’ll have to decide is what project everyone will enjoy creating. If you have the extra cash set aside you might want to try a wood working project. Wood working is one of the most expensive crafts to try, but it can also be very rewarding when you get to see the final project. You can make something as simple as a sailboat to float on a nearby lake or something more difficult like a keychain holder. You’ll need to hit up your local hobby or craft shop to find all the wood working supplies you might need. The kids will love getting creative with their own designs and then painting the final project. Wood working isn’t simple so you will need to supervise the kids while using hammer and nails.
