Oct. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Orange County, CA – Nearly a year ago on November 2, 2011, Communities for Cause (CFC) released a mobile application that allows users to support a local school or charity through their day-to-day shopping and one-time larger purchases. Local merchants in CFC’s network agree to donate a percentage (as much as 20%) of each registered purchase to the cause of the user’s choice.

Available as a free download in the iTunes App Store and Google Play, the app allows users to find merchants by browsing a growing catalog of local business by category. At the end of their visit, users pay as they normally would and then register their purchases by scanning a QR code provided by the merchant. The platform also allows users to track how much has been donated to their cause as a result of their purchases.

CFC provides a mutually beneficial solution by providing merchants an effective cause marketing platform while earning donations for causes. The app’s features allow local merchants to increase their exposure to loyal supporters of partnered schools and charities. The program is currently being used by over 40 causes in the Orange County area representing over 80,000 households and growing daily.

CFC makes it easy for users to generate extra donations for schools and charities just by changing their shopping habits. According to recent Cause Marketing studies, 80% percent of Americans are likely to switch brands to support a cause they care about.(1) With over 100 merchants to choose from and growing daily, offers span a wide array of products and services including restaurants, wine shops,  clothing boutiques, beauty salons, pet supplies, dry cleaners, birthday party venues, pool maintenance, tutoring services, home décor, auto sales & service, and more.
