Volkswagen Announces New Beetle Redesign for 2013

Oct. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- To go along with its redesign of its iconic Beetle model, Volkswagen has unveiled a new convertible model for the Bug set to be released the 2013 model year. With a smart, fun look, the convertible model is sure to be a hit with fans of this classic car. The convertible will feature a classic soft top that folds neatly and flatly behind the rear seat giving the driver optimum visibility. At the push of a button, the top springs into action, taking only 10 seconds to completely deploy. As always, safety is Volkswagen’s primary concern. In the event of a crash, two rollover bars move to protect the occupants, activated by the same circuit as the airbag, all in 4 milliseconds.

The redesign of the Beetle was met with wide acclaim when it debuted in 2011 for the 2012 model year and the Convertible offering is the perfect addition to this great vehicle. After Volkswagen ceased production of the New Beetle design, they returned to the aesthetic roots of the original Beetle model. The current Beetle models follow the contours of the classic Beetle with a flatter roof and windshield, while still achieving a more modern, aggressive look.  

The interior of the 2013 Beetle Convertible retains the incredible touches that have made the new design so well received, including excellent interior accents, a body colored dashboard, and handsome gauges. A folding, split rear seat gives access to the trunk, increasing storage options.   
                  
Three different powertrain options are available on the Convertible model: a 170 hp, 2.5L 5-cylinder, VW's fuel-efficient 2.0L, TDI Clean Diesel 4-cylinder with a 41mpg on the highway rating, and a burly 2.0L Turbocharged TSI 4-cylinder engine that cranks out 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque.
