Fanwood Community Foundation Annual Meeting This Sunday, October 21

The Fanwood Community Foundation Board of Directors invites all with a love of Fanwood to its annual meeting this Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Forest Road Community Center, Forest Road Park in Fanwood.

This year, the Foundation will discuss the the direction of the Foundation as wellas the growing need for volunteers to help suport our administrative needs.  The Board will also consider for adoption revised by-laws that will help govern our organization going forward and fill up to four Director positions that are up for renewal.

The mission of the Fanwood Community Foundation is twofold:  first, it is to provide financial assistance in the form of grants to individuals or groups in need of assistance who live, work, support, or serve the community of Fanwood.  Second, it is to raise money to meet these needs by seeking donations and providing philanthropic leadership to the greater Fanwood community. As a nonprofit corporation, all donations are tax deductible.

Established in October 1998, the Foundation has provided help where the needs are the greatest and the benefits to Fanwood and its citizens are most substantial.  The Foundation has accumulated assets in excess of $120,000 made up of contributions from local residents and businesses, bequests, and memorial donations.  From the interest earned on the invested assets, the Board of Directors has annually made grants ranging from a few hundred dollars to over $1,000 to eligible applicants seeking assistance.  The Foundation has awarded grants to purchase much needed emergency equipment for the Fanwood Fire Department, purchase a new camera for TV35, fund the purchase of materials for the Fanwood Memorial Library and has given grants to support the works of various community organizations including the Resolve Crisis Center, the local food bank and Heart for Humanity.

Many of our donors are local residents who make ongoing contributions to support the work of the Foundation. Other contributors have included us in their will or had memorial contributions made in their memory to provide a living legacy. Whatever the motivation, all dollars provide a unique and lasting way to support the Fanwood Community now and into the future.
