Follow on Google News | Professor Steve Haberman to Serve as Cass Business School DeanIn January 2013 Professor Steve Haberman will take the helm at Cass Business School, part of City University London.
Professor Haberman will lead the implementation of Cass's new strategic plan and guide the School as it prepares for the next Research Excellence Framework exercise. He takes over during Cass's anniversary celebrations. 2012 marks 10 years since City University Business School became Cass Business School with new premises, name, and brand - the business school for the City of London. Professor Haberman comments: "Under Richard's leadership the School has seen an improvement in its overall ranking and great growth and development over the last six years. I am excited to be taking on the role of Dean as we start to implement our new strategic plan, which particularly emphasises the development of our corporate-facing activities including Cass Executive Education and Cass Consulting. At the same time I am looking forward to working closely with colleagues to secure the School a positive outcome in the upcoming Research Excellence Framework exercise. I have enjoyed working with Richard enormously and wish him well in his future endeavours." Professor Haberman graduated in mathematics from the University of Cambridge, qualified as an FIA in 1975, and obtained his PhD (http://www.cass.city.ac.uk/ He has held roles at Prudential and in the Government Actuary's Department. He is a former member of both the Council of the Institute of Actuaries and the Financial Reporting Council's Board for Actuarial Standards and is a current member of Legal and General's Longevity Science Advisory Panel. Co-author of five books and over 160 research papers, he is also sought after as a consultant, having worked with Deutsche Bank, Swiss Reinsurance, Financial Services Authority, Lucida and the National Audit Office among others.
