Follow on Google News | Heart Smart Technology to offer CPR/AED Training and Discounted AEDs to Entire NJ School SystemAs a result of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s new “Janet’s Law” being signed, Heart Smart Technology is offering AEDs and CPR training to all NJ schools.
By: Heart Smart Technology In another step to educate the public and provide life-saving equipment to organizations in need, Heart Smart Technology is partnering with New Jersey public and private schools offering training to its staff and discounts for AED devices. This initiative is due in large part to Governor Chris Christie’s new “Janet’s Law” which passed with unanimous support from the New Jersey House of Representatives and Senate on September 21st of this year. The new law requires all public and private schools to have an AED in an unlocked location on-site, to train staff in AED and CPR procedures, and to have a documented emergency plan to effectively deal with sudden cardiac events on school property. All schools in New Jersey must be in accordance with the statutes of this new law by September 1st, 2014. The law was named in honor Janet Zilinski of Warren, NJ who, in 2006, collapsed and died from cardiac arrest while attending cheer leading practice on campus. She was only eleven years old. Heart Smart Technology will be offering New Jersey schools a variety of AED solutions including equipment and American Heart Association training to suit their specific needs. Factors will include the size of the school, the total student capacity, the age range of students and the extent to which student activities take place off of school grounds. Heart Smart will also conduct individual site assessments upon request. “We are truly happy to work with communities to raise awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest,” says Brian Marshall, co-founder of Heart Smart Technology. “The fact is that, with the proper education and equipment, death by SCA can be prevented.” Heart Smart Technology will extend AED program management to all NJ schools at no cost to ensure that all AEDs and CPR-AED training will be maintained. Additionally, their team will be working closely with leading AED manufactures including Philips, Zoll, Heartsine and Defibtech as well as American Heart Association instructors to offer special discount pricing to all NJ schools. For several years Heart Smart Technology has offered reduced pricing to purchase AEDs for children in need. In some cases, they have been fortunate enough to donate these life-saving devices.
