Oct. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Cal Harris Jr. is back with a new single that may very well raise the bar for the exceptionally talented keyboardist, composer and arranger. Smooth features the musical elements that are becoming trademarks of a Cal Harris Jr song – inescapable melodies, arresting arrangements and irreproachable production. His latest single release features Spectra Jazz saxophonist Elan Trotman (Love and Sax). Trotman's soft, sexy sax and Harris' silky, melodic keys ’s create a groove that invokes hip swaying and foot tapping.

The response to the single has been enthusiastic. It debuted as the #1 Most Added Song on Billboard/BDS and Groove Jazz Music charts. It also debuted on several notable Smooth Jazz charts including Smoothjazz.com and is receiving airplay on terrestrial and internet stations internationally, from Sweden to Denver, CO.  When asked if he is surprised Harris said: "This tune always had great potential but needed 'something - a little bit of magic to put it over the top. I gave him (Elan) the song and simply said "go for it man". What I got back from him was the magic I was looking for."
Harris is no stranger to successful collaborations. His debut CD Inside Out featured fellow smooth jazz artist guitarist Matt Marshak and Harold Todd, sax player for Lenny Kravitz.

Smooth is the first single release from Harris' untitled sophomore project due out in January 2013.  His first CD Inside Out was released in late 2010 and earned him kudos from the fans and industry, including a track that was listed as the Most Played Song of 2011 from Ted Hasiuk the host of the highly respected contemporary jazz show Cafe Jazz and One of the Best New Songs of 2010 from famed Jazz.fm personality Steve Quirk, host of the long running show 'Fusion Flavors'. Harris also had two tracks in the top Top Ten on satellite radio Sirius Fm 'Watercolors' smooth jazz channel. When asked if he's worried about comparisons between the two Harris said: "I don't worry about how the second one will measure up to the first one. I just do my best to communicate the music in me to the rest of the world and hope that it touches people and reaches their hearts. If my songs can do that I feel any project is successful". When pressed for a few specific details on the new CD, Harris did say that it  will be  a concept CD - where  the songs will be built around a theme. "You'll have to wait for the CD to figure out the rest" says Harris with a smile.
