Three of the Middle East region’s leading banking and finance academic institutions have forged a strategic partnership with the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business, one of the world's leading business schools. The agreement was first signed between the US based business school and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF), which was later followed by the Institute of Banking in Saudi Arabia (IoB) and lastly with the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS). Under the terms of the agreement, GCC students will now be able to take part in a 'Leadership Development Program' (LDP), a three week intensive course that will take place at the Darden campus in Virginia.

The LDP course offering is being positioned as a residential learning experience for participating students and will run from April 28, 2013 to May 17, 2013. The program is guided by the objectives of the partnership—designing and delivering a key learning experience for high potential managers from the GCC, which will help develop their leadership skills and prepare them for executive roles in the companies or organizations that they service. The LDP covers sessions that tackle important and timely topics like leadership, finance basics for non-financial managers, developing business acumen, enterprise thinking and how to set strategies and visions. The program is open to middle and top-line managers from the region’s leading banking and financial institutions.

Jamal Ahmed Al Jassmi, General Manager, EIBFS, said, “We are very excited at the prospects of this new landmark agreement with the University Of Virginia Darden School Of Business, which is known the world over for offering a unique business training experience-- case study method, the highest-ranked faculty and a tight-knit learning environment to develop principled and complete leaders who are ready to make an impact. This agreement will allow our local banking and financial executives to learn best practices and global trends, which will not only give them an advantage over their peers but will also help increase their career opportunities.”

“The Middle East region represents a large talent pool of future leaders in the fields of banking and finance. Our partnership with EIBFS will now give these future career executives the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge, which will prepare them for bigger opportunities. We are proud to partner with a premiere academic institution like EIBFS, which is noted as one of the region’s leading provider of specialized courses and trainings for the banking and finance segment,” concluded Lou Centini, Senior Director, University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
