Julie Ekstrom, President & CEO of Kanga Care, named as Finalist in 9th Annual Stevie Award
Stevie Award Winners to Be Announced in New York on November 9
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run – worldwide. The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,”
More than 1,200 entries were submitted this year for consideration, including Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Communications Campaign of the Year. Julie Ekstrom is a Finalist in both the Entrepreneur of the Year – Business Products - (10 or Less Employees) and Lifetime Achievement categories.
Julie Ekstrom is an innovator and problem solver in its purest form. If she has a need, she will fill it. Passion like hers is the core of which an Entrepreneur is born. In 2006 Julie's second daughter was born and presented Julie with the opportunity to fine tune her problem solving skills. The Rumparooz Cloth Diaper was conceived and one year later Kanga Care was formed. The Rumparooz One Size Cloth Diaper is a trendy and functional diaper that grows with your child and allows parents to save upwards of $5000.00 per child over the cost of traditional disposable diapers. The Rumparooz are form fitting and waterproof without plastic pants and pins. Some will argue that the Rumparooz is the most functional cloth diaper on the market with patent-pending, no-leak, dual inner gusset technology for ultra protection. In the last 2 years Julie has also expanded her line into a newborn/preemie diaper called the Lil Joey and an organic line called EcoPosh, made out of organic cotton, bamboo and recycled water bottles.
Julie says, "My passion for my children and concern for their health and welfare led me into this industry. I work at ground zero, with my team and customers every single day. This helps me better understand our customers, their needs and how we can help them live a healthier lifestyle. For their children, your children, my children and our planet."
Finalists were chosen by more than 130 business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging. More than 90 members of the five final judging committees will determine the Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award placements from among the Finalists during final judging.
“We’re very excited about this year’s Finalists in the Stevie Awards for Women in Business,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of the Stevie Awards. “The judges have told me that they think this is the best and most inspiring crop of nominees we’ve ever had. We look forward to seeing the judges’ final decisions.”
