Managing Partner of The Curchin Group Presents at NJCUL's Annual Meeting and Convention

Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- RED BANK, New Jersey (October 11, 2012) – The Curchin Group, LLC, a mid-sized, full-service accounting firm based in Red Bank, New Jersey, announced today that Managing Partner Robert C. Fouratt, CPA, presented two seminar sessions, “Required Financial Literacy Training for Volunteers,” and “Effective Risk Oversight for Board Members,” at the New Jersey Credit Union League’s (NJCUL) 78th Annual Meeting & Convention held in Atlantic City, New Jersey from September 30 to October 2, 2012.  The NJCUL is a trade association formed to facilitate the development and growth of the credit unions in New Jersey.  

In the first session held on September 30, 2012, Fouratt covered credit union financial statement basics, financial statement terminology, and key ratios and their meanings, in order to provide credit union volunteers with the knowledge and tools to evaluate a credit union’s financial position, operating results and trends.  This session also assisted attendees in complying with the National Credit Union Association’s (NCUA) ongoing financial literacy requirement for credit union directors.  In Fouratt's second presentation held on October 1, 2012, he discussed ways that board members can improve oversight and effectively balance risk while adding value to the organization.

Fouratt leads Curchin’s credit union practice, which provides auditing, accounting and consulting to over 35 federally and state chartered credit unions.  He has over 25 years of public accounting experience, including a focus on working with financial institutions, not-for-profit organizations and closely-held small to mid-size businesses.  Fouratt has also written numerous articles and presented to many associations regarding credit union governance, regulations and other relevant topics.
