Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- As the presidential election draws near, a number of election polls show the race tightening.   Regardless of national popular vote trends and polls, the electoral vote will determine the race.

GatoPoll.com has developed an electoral college prediction model that indicates Former Governor Mitt Romney can win the 2012 presidential race by maintaining the current results in swing states and having various combinations of other victories.  He will need to carry either Ohio or Virginia.

Based on the analyses done by GatoPoll.com, President Obama currently holds the lead, with 24 more Electoral College votes than needed to win the 2012 presidential election.  Swing states will determine if he can hold this lead.

To determine the current predictions on GatoPoll.com, an aggregate of various published public opinion polls are used.  This helps to minimize potential errors associated with a single poll.  State-by-state results are used to determine Electoral College predictions.
