Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- One of the largest chains of private hospitals owned by Ramsay within the UK is proud to announce its recent commendation for an exceptional environmentally friendly approach.

Springfield Hospital, located in Chelmsford, Essex, is celebrating a top award given by the firmly established Green Organisation. The award comes shortly after also being named top independent healthcare provider by the Environment Agency in their recent Carbon Reduction Commitment Performance League Table.

Striving to minimalism all kinds of waste, Springfield Hospital initiated their ‘Be a Springfield Hero; Help Us Reach Zero' strategy. The defining goal of this scheme is to reduce the hospitals’ overall pollution and waste drastically.

Fending off competition from a very respectable 500 applications, Springfield Hospital are absolutely delighted to receive the ‘Green Apple’ award this year for recognition of sustained commitment to reducing their carbon footprints. The award scheme was initiated in 1994 and has been complimenting ‘green’ businesses ever since.

The achievement has only been possible through the continued hard work of all staff at Springfield. Amy Simpson, Support Services Manager, has been strategising and leading the waste recycling scheme from her vast knowledge in the sector derived from a successful prior career in environmental consulting. Amy will be receiving the award at a public presentation in The House of Commons during November 2012.

Springfield Hospital has been offering specialist surgical procedures including cosmetic surgery, physiotherapy and eye treatments since 1987.
