Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- It’s going to be a giant of a Christmas at the Forum Shopping Centre and Chester Market Hall thanks to the imminent arrival of a series of larger-than-life characters designed to help shoppers to get more out of the season of goodwill.

The Northgate retail development has linked up with giant makers, Chester the Giant City, to create a series of seasonal giants who will take pride-of-place at the very heart of the shopping centre.

The first of the 14 feet high giants, due to arrive later this month, will be a Halloween themed character who will be replaced by a giant Guy Fawkes who will take pride of place in the shopping centre in the run-up to Bonfire Night.

A giant Father Christmas will then take Guy’s place at the Forum and will be the star of the show up until Christmas and beyond.

“I’m sure they will make a big impression,” said the Forum’s centre manager Lawrence Allen who has been planning the arrival of the giants with Giant City project director Kristine Szulik. “They’ll certainly be popular with youngsters.

“When we saw the giants we immediately decided they would be a perfect centrepiece for the winter festivities,” added Mr Allen. “However, we wanted more than a giant Santa, so we sat down and chose a series of characters that would be appropriate as we moved from Halloween, through to Bonfire Night and then Christmas.

“And when we reach Christmas the giant Santa will be joined by a magical Sleeping Polar Bear display which was especially popular with shoppers last Christmas. We will again be linking up with the charity sector via the Toy & Tin Appeal which encourages people to donate toys for deprived children and tins of food for those old folk who have been adversely affected by the current economic challenges.”

Traditionally a popular Christmas shopping destination for families, the Forum had always embraced the ‘season of goodwill’ said Mr Allen.

“However I suspect our friendly giants will be particularly welcomed by the children of the city,” he added. “After all, they are spectacular!”
