Mobile Retailer Brings The Boutique To You

Oct. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Imagine stepping up off of the sidewalk, through the door of a large vehicle, and into an upscale boutique. Many local women are enjoying this new experience in real life. “Upscale is exactly the feel we were going for,’ says Kimberly Cushingberry, co-owner of the new business. She took the time to hand-pick everything from the exterior colors (black and hot pink) to the glam décor on the inside. The women's clothing items and accessories inside are even more impressive.

On-trend dresses and jumpsuits occupy hangers toward the front and back of the boutique. In between, shelves hold various types of leggings, bottoms, and colorful handbags. Of course there is also space for accessories. Embellished sunglasses, cocktail rings, chunky bracelets and statement necklaces are some of the pieces Kim keeps on hand from various vendors. She also features some pieces from local designers and is looking to expand upon that offering. The urban glam style of most items inside lends itself to being mixed with many other styles whether dressing for a girl’s night out or everyday about town.

Kim’s husband Ken, the other co-owner, drives the boutique she curates. The pair says it takes a lot of work managing the new business, which just got rolling toward the beginning of July, but they are happy to be doing it together. Kim also works for a non-profit, so most of her ‘free time’ is taken by this new venture. “It is a lot of work on top of being a mom and everything else I have to do, but I love fashion,” says Cushingberry. In the past Kim sold fashion at events and private parties, often keeping some stock in the trunk of her car. This natural evolution to a larger more engaging version of that idea seems to have regular people intrigued and fashionistas excited.

Trunk Show Mobile Boutique is available for private parties and events in addition to their pop-up shop locations. They encourage people to keep up with them through social media to learn about what events and locations where they are scheduled to appear. Established local businesses, like Sugarbaby’s Cupcakes, have been gracious hosts and TSMB hopes to partner with more local spots. “We love being able to help build traffic for Houston’s great businesses and especially like attending events that have a charity aspect. We’d also love to be involved with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo since it is such a longstanding part of the community and a scholarship effort.”
