Get your outdoors on this October!

Oct. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Outdoor-tober is a month long celebration of the outdoors running through the month of October. Hosted by the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation (QORF), Outdoor-tober is designed to promote the range of opportunities for outdoor recreation in Queensland and to encourage Queenslanders to try something new, or take on a new challenge. In Queensland we are lucky enough to have some of the most sought after natural spaces, with tourists travelling from all over the world to experience the outdoor environments and lifestyles that we have on offer. QORF wants the Outdoor-tober campaign to excite people and give them a reason to seek adventure in nature.

Experiences in the outdoors challenge us, take us away from the digital clutter of modern life and provide us with opportunities to share experiences and make memories with our families and friends. QORF’s Active Outdoors Expo was a prime example of the potential of outdoor recreation to bring balance and value to our lives. This annual event brought together a range of outdoor providers who offered free activities for the community and provided an information hub for people looking for something new to do in the outdoors. The 2000 people who attended tried orienteering, climbing, croquet, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, tasted freshly cooked damper, found new places to get outdoors, and new activities to try.

QORF CEO, Donna Little, pointed out that “fun stuff happens outdoors. Life is better when we take the time to be in, and engage with, the great outdoors. We see Expo and Outdoor-tober as a great excuse for people to break away from the stresses of everyday life, to find new ways to have fun, share with others and to really feel alive.”
