Oct. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation will celebrate its 25th Anniversary at the Dauphin Grille, located on 1401 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park, NJ on Sunday, October 28th from 12:00- 4:00 p.m. The celebration will feature a lunch buffet and cash bar and is open to the general public.  The musical lineup includes a debut performance by The Snow Project and legendary Jersey Shore favorites Chuck Lambert, Gary Wright, Ken “Stringbean” Sorensen and The Willie Mitchell Collaboration.

The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation’s Board Members will share information on the organization’s past and present programs and events, as well as announce the dates for the widely anticipated 2013 Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Summer Series of Festivals in Point Pleasant Borough, Asbury Park and Long Branch. Guests will also enjoy a special roundtable conversation with the performing musicians who will share some of their personal stories as well as their thoughts on the past, present and future of jazz and blues music.  Photographs and other memorabilia from the past 25 years will be on display.  Musical-themed baskets will be auctioned off and matted and framed prints will be available to purchase.

Founded in 1987, The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation remains dedicated in its efforts to preserve, promote and perpetuate jazz and blues on the Jersey Shore through performance and education. Each year the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation holds several major festivals, such as the Summer Series of Jazz and Blues Festivals.

“We are the proud recipient of the Discover Jersey Arts People’s Choice Award for Favorite Music Festival. We produce the Long Branch summer series Blues by the Beach as well as Keyport’s Jazz and Blues on Front Street,“ said Christine Zemla, Event Chair.  “This year we took part in Neptune’s “Celebrate Music in Our Schools” month-long celebration, hosted a free guitar workshop with jazz guitarist extraordinaire Jerry Topinka and presented the Tal Farlow scholarship to an amazingly talented guitar player, Scott Reeves, who is enrolled at the Berklee College of Music.”

The competition is currently underway to select the Jersey shore representative at the International Blues Competition, held annually in Memphis, TN.  The monthly Reckless Steamy Nights concerts, with proceeds dedicated to the group’s education/scholarship fund, are fan favorites, as are our weekly jam sessions. Festivals, concerts, film screenings and plans for a Mississippi Delta juke joint jaunt are currently in the works.

Join the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation as it looks back on its first 25 years and begins planning for the future. All are welcome.  Seating is limited, advance reservations are recommended.  For more information or to reserve your tickets contact Doris Lazur at 732-933-1984 / drdorisdc@aol.com or Christine Zemla at 732-241-4724 / chriszemla@gmail.com.
