We produce the Long Branch summer series Blues by the Beach as well as Keyport’s Jazz and Blues on Front Street,“ said Christine Zemla, Event Chair. “This year we took part in Neptune’s “Celebrate Music in Our Schools” month-long celebration, hosted a free guitar workshop with jazz guitarist extraordinaire Jerry Topinka and presented the Tal Farlow scholarship to an amazingly talented guitar player, Scott Reeves, who is enrolled at the Berklee College of Music.” The competition is currently underway to select the Jersey shore representative at the International Blues Competition, held annually in Memphis, TN. The monthly Reckless Steamy Nights concerts, with proceeds dedicated to the group’s education/scholarship fund, are fan favorites, as are our weekly jam sessions. Festivals, concerts, film screenings and plans for a Mississippi Delta juke joint jaunt are currently in the works.
