Oct. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Leesville, LA – October, 2012 – Kindles, Nooks and even Iphones are all the rage for many kids and even teenagers today. For many years the race has been on to get the latest gadget or tech device for young and seniors alike. Because of the rapid pace of technology, are our children missing out on nature? Author Lovely Whitmore states this is the case in her latest book, “1378 Oak Street”.

From the onset, Author Whitmore’s story begins “Children don’t know how to play no more. Nowadays all they do is sit on their butts playing video games, texting on their cellular phones or surfing the internet on their computers, laptops and other handheld devices.

It ain’t nothing like the good old days. When I was coming up, we didn’t have all that high tech pricey stuff. It didn’t take much to keep me, my brother and sister entertained. Even though we weren’t rich, we always knew how to have fun with what we had”. Were the kids born 10 to 20 years ago better off than the youth today? Or are the kids today better off because the various tech gadgets are moving the world in another arena?

Author Whitmore shares about a new home her family moved into in 1985 on Oak Street. Living on 1378 Oak Street turns into the adventure of a lifetime. The families’ home environment and neighborhood was filled with fun, friendship and love. One of the lessons the reader will discover is the people living on 1378 Oak Street learned to take what they had and had fun with it.

Author Whitmore says, “We played restaurant, made mud pies and had barbecue chicken made out of sticks and dirt. There was never a dull moment as we fought monsters, played chase and took turns riding one bike. It was a time when imaginations reigned supreme and dreams were the gateway to life”.

Author Whitmore has written this book in a storytelling tone which will make the reader feel as if they lived on 1378 Oak Street. 1378 Oak Street is a story for the entire family to enjoy and is available on Amazon.com.
