By: www.theshiningserpent.com London, October, 08 2012 - Serpents haven’t always had a bad reputation. Whilst the past 2000 years have portrayed our slithery friends as evil and fiendish, the ancients had a different perspective. Serpents were seen as conduits of the spiritual and wise sages that could help one understand themself. In fact, so esteemed were these creatures in our past, that in Mesoamerica, Quetzalcoatl was a deity that was revered and known as the feathered serpent. And this theme is now being reintroduced into the publishing world by a new novel called The Shining Serpent. The Shining Serpent is a book set in a post war Iraq, and follows the life of Sarah, a middle aged woman searching for her lost son. Feeling hopeless and weak, she meets a dark serpent that helps guide her. The wise figure provides confidence and solace to the elderly woman, and with his wisdom she manages to traverse an otherwise dangerous land. “I wanted to give this beautiful and majestic creature a chance, nature is a part of us, and we are a part of nature,” says M.A. Hadi on the reason he chose to portray serpents in his book. ### About M.A. HADI is a writer, poet and visionary.
