Origen at Civita Named Best New Community in San Diego and in Southern California
Shea Homes San Diego honored for Best New Attached Home Community for San Diego and Southern California.
Origen at Civita, Shea’s new enclave of loft-style townhomes in San Diego, was voted best new community in the attached home category at two different ceremonies last month: one presented by the Building Industry Association (BIA) of San Diego and the other by its affiliated chapter, the BIA of Southern California.
In addition to naming it as the best new attached community, the San Diego Building Industry Association honored Origen for best sales office and best interior design for the skyLoft Plan 1X Model.
The Greater Sales and Marketing Council of the BIA of Southern California also recognized Origen as attached community of the year and presented it with the top award for best attached architectural design for skyLoft Plan 1X and best social media marketing program.
Both awards competitions were judged by industry professionals, honoring excellence in design, merchandising and marketing, Origen was singled out for its striking vertical architecture and innovative definition of interior space. Located in the heart of San Diego’s bustling Mission Valley, Origen is the first for-sale community to open at Civita, a 230-acre master planned community being developed as a sustainable transit-oriented village by Sudberry Properities. Upon build-out, Origen homeowners will be able to walk to a large central park, gardens, shopping, dining and entertainment.
“Origen has been a pioneering project on several levels,” said Linn. “Not only were we the first new residential neighborhood to open within a brand new master planned community, but we went out on a limb with this architecture. Blending an urban vibe with village charm in equal parts, Origen is unlike anything being built in San Diego right now.”
Origen offers 200 homes in two new neighborhoods -- Origen socialGarden and Origen skyLoft. Designed by Woodley Architectural Group, both communities showcase contemporary urban detailing with multi-story window walls, expansive outdoor decks, unique stone and brick surfaces, open rail systems, open tread stairs, wrought iron railings, and angled doors, walls and floors. Shea’s customization program allows buyers to add or remove solid and glass walls for additional privacy or a greater sense of space.
Interiors feature caesar stone wrapped kitchen islands, master and powder baths with glass vessel sinks, tankless water heaters and KitchenAid or Whirlpool Gold stainless-steel appliances. High efficiency gas heating, and air conditioning systems utilize touch screen programmable thermostats.
Each of the 10 floor plans includes a two-car garage, with an upgraded brushed aluminum door inset with opaque glass. Other designer items, such as opaque glass sliding barn doors, caesar stone quartz countertops, and floating European cabinets are included in every home.
At Origen skyLoft, smart vertical architecture floods the three-and four-story homes with natural light, promoting a comforting sense of space and openness. Towering two-story window walls, open stair railings, and front- and rear-balconies bounce natural light throughout the homes from multiple light sources. Three- and four-story row homes at Origen skyLoft range from 1,452 to 1,760 square feet with two to three bedrooms, 2.5 to 3.5 baths, two-car garages and multiple balconies. Homes in Phase Five are now selling from the mid $400,000s.
Three- and four-story courtyard homes at Origen socialGarden are slightly larger, ranging from 1,390 to 2,110 square feet with two to three bedrooms, 2.5 to 3.5 baths, two-car garages and individual balconies. Homes in Phase Four are also priced from the mid $400,000s.
Located at 7894 Civita Blvd., Origen opened in late 2011 as the first new residential community within Civita, whose plans call for 4,780 residential homes and apartments, approximately 480,000 square feet for a lifestyle retail center and 420,000 square feet for an office/business campus over the next 10-15 years.
