Oct. 5, 2012 - PRLog -- Chicago, IL – The Globe Pub will be hosting a book release party for local author Matt Darst and his debut novel, Dead Things, on October 26, 2012. Come by, have a pint, and listen to Mr. Darst read an excerpt from his genre-redefining novel. The reading is free for the public, and copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event.

Dead Things is an expression of Mr. Darst’s inner fanboy and his love of all things George Romero. Nearly two decades after a zombie plague, the church has risen to fill the void left by a collapsed government. Science is heresy, and the dead must be decapitated to avoid an unholy resurrection. When a group of survivors becomes lost miles beyond the church-state’s fortified walls, they must rely on their wits and information too dangerous to speak aloud to stay alive. Dead Things is a dystopian tale, an amalgam of Clerks, Crichton, and Zombieland.
Early acclaim for Dead Things:

-   “Beautifully realized, a spiritual cousin to Matheson’s classic I am Legend. Fantastic and highly recommended.” David Moody, author of Them or Us and Autumn

-   “Original, a spellbinding mix of social commentary and jaw-dropping action. Darst is taking the zombie novel in a really cool new direction.” Stoker Award-winner Joe McKinney, author of Dead City and Apocalypse of the Dead

-   “A fabulous debut, unique, and highly recommended.” Chip Fehd,

-   “A fresh offering, smart and witty. A well-written, smartly entertaining debut.” John Boden, Shock Totem Publications
