By: Calacus IOC member Bubka, who is also President of the Ukraine National Olympic Committee and was in charge of the Co-Ordination Commission for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010, attended the meeting along with Ukraine Deputy Prime Minister Borys Kolesnikov and other sports officials. Bubka said: “The Youth Championships will certainly give a boost to athletics in the region and the new facilities will give thousands of local kids the chance to enjoy sport and keep active and healthy. “I’m really delighted about the progress of preparations in my native city of Donetsk. Everything is going according to plan and we expect test events will be held at the Championships’ Along with Bubka and Mr. Kolesnikov, the meeting was attended by members of the Donetsk local government, Ukrainian Athletics Federation and National Olympic Committee. Mr. Kolesnikov believes that the Youth Championships will be as successful as EURO2012. He said: “I’m absolutely sure that 2013 World Youth Athletics Championships will be as successful as UEFA EURO2012. The Ukrainian Government hosting major international sport events is a great ambition and great privilege; it is another unique opportunity to involve our youth in sports.” The IAAF 2013 World Youth Championships will be hosted by Donetsk, Ukraine, on July 10-14, 2013. The Championship will be the first ever IAAF major championship held in Ukraine. The independent commission includes: Sergiy Kozyakov - Head of the committee, attorney in Law, member of Academic Council of the Kyiv national university named after Taras Shevchenko; Olga Zhukovska – Vice-President of the Union of Attorneys of Ukraine, member of UEFA Appellate Committee; Valentyn Zagariya – Head of the Judicial League of Ukraine.
