Stamford Federal Credit Union: First Local Credit Union to Introduce Mobile Banking

Oct. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- (Stamford, CT, September 21) -- Stamford Federal Credit Union (SFCU) recently introduced mobile banking and Text Message Banking to its membership. SFCU is the first credit union, a financial services cooperative, owned and operated by its members, in the greater Stamford market to offer these services.

Despite SFCU’s smaller size, the Credit Union keeps up with the latest technological advances in the banking industry like larger financial institutions. The Credit Union launched the new mobile banking, called SFCU Mobile, in mid-August and is on track to have 3% of its members sign up by the end of the month.

SFCU Mobile will provide a safe and secure way for members to conduct their banking on the go with any web-enabled mobile device. Members will have the ability to check account balances, view recent transactions, transfer funds and locate surcharge-free ATMs. The three methods of SFCU Mobile available are:

•   SMS/text (ideal for those who don’t use a Smart Phone)
•   Browser-based (WAP)
•   Downloadable Applications for Apple and Android devices

“Mobile Banking is another way for members to access their accounts at their convenience,” said SFCU President David Lucas. “Given the widespread popularity and use of mobile devices, we are excited to provide the tools members need to manage their finances in ways that make sense for their busy lives,” said Lucas.
