Ribbon Cutting And Community Block Party To Celebrate Grand Opening Of Dream Center Harlem

Oct. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, October 3, 2012 - - First Corinthian Baptist Church (FCBC) Pastor Michael A. Walrond Jr.’s dream has come to fruition and future visionaries now have a space in which to nurture their dreams with the grand opening of the Dream Center Harlem located at 205 West 119th Street between Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Blvd and St. Nicholas Avenue. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, not just for FCBC family but for the Harlem community-at-large, there will be a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Community Block Party Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 12pm – 4pm on 119th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues for all to enjoy.

The celebration will commence with tours of the Dream Center Harlem space followed by the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with addresses from Pastor Walrond, Pastor Liferidge, New York Comptroller John C. Liu and other local dignitaries.

The Dream Center Harlem was created to be a space to inspire, inform and empower the dreams of the youth and young adults. “This summer we piloted our Visionary Academy with a 5-week intensive focused on our core areas: Arts, Economic Empowerment and Leadership Development.  Through experiential learning experiences such as an interactive retreat, exposure trips, creative workshops and a consulting project, our visionaries were empowered as leaders and inspired to re-imagine what was possible for them,” said Pastor Tory.  Nine Visionaries graduated as the Dream Center Harlem’s inaugural class transformed and empowered knowing that their dreams are achievable.

The community block party will be filled with fun-filled activities for Harlem residents of all ages  complete with  food, face painting, vendors, games, to social media and voter registration.

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony event sponsor Harley Davidson of New York City will take registrants on the Ride for a Dream Motorcycle Run from 119th to 145th Streets and back to 119th Street.
