Oct. 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Tampa Bay, FL – The General Motors OnStar system is possibly the most widely-known and in-demand OEM vehicle safety, convenience and communications system available on the market today.  However, to install an aftermarket headunit in most GM vehicles with 29-bit LAN databus systems, installers often need to use a suite of integration modules to retain all the safety and convenience features that GM provides to consumers. That is why Pacific Accessory Corporation (PAC) today introduced the RP5-GM31 – a headunit replacement interface and integrated steering wheel control retention module that retains OnStar and other premium features in one convenient kit.

Based on technology from the popular OS-4 kit and the SWI-RC module, the RP5-GM31 facilitates the installation of an aftermarket headunit or navigation radio in select 2006 to 2013 GM vehicles (except full-sized SUVs) utilizing the 29-bit GM LAN databus system. Compatible with OEM amplified or non-amplified audio systems, the RP5-GM31 retains all original capabilities and features - including all OnStar features, factory Bose sound system, XM Radio, lane departure warnings, turn-by turn navigation, Bluetooth and factory-installed rear-seat video. The RP5-GM31 also retains steering wheel controls (SWC functions come pre-programmed), back-up sensors and warning chimes, giving it greater versatility and offering even more radio replacement opportunities to the installer and consumer.

According to Brett Riggs, Vice President of Engineering for PAC parent company, AAMP of America, “We designed the RP5-GM31 as an all-in-one solution for installers and shop owners. It combines several existing PAC and legacy Peripheral Electronics technologies into one convenient interface.  This means quicker and easier installations, less confusion about what integration modules to use, lower overall costs and easier inventory management.”

The RP5-GM31 is made and distributed by Santa Ana, California-based Pacific Accessory Corporation (PAC). Since 1976, back when the 8-track player was the iPod of the day and radio replacement required tons of cutting and splicing, PAC has been manufacturing high quality mobile electronics interfaces that satisfy the needs of even the most demanding installer. Now, PAC is the industry leader when it comes to OEM integration solutions, offering patented solutions and cutting-edge technologies for everything from steering wheel controls and portable media integration, to radio replacement, to add-an-amp interfaces, Bluetooth integration, security system interfacing and much more. PAC’s goal is to provide dealers with the OEM solutions and know-how necessary to satisfy the wants of today’s and tomorrow’s consumer in a dramatically changing industry.
