Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest, Milwaukie's Farmer Market

Oct. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- October means many things to many folks, but to the folks at The Milwaukie Sunday Farmers Market it especially means time for the annual Pumpkin Carving Contest! For more than 10 years the members and volunteers at Celebrate Milwaukie, Inc. have produced the contest for the Farmers Market and this years competition will be great. "We've heard from more people this year." says David Aschenbrenner, board member of Celebrate Milwaukie, Inc, (CMI), "We're expecting the biggest turnout yet!" Aschenbrenner should know, for more than 5 years he has helped bring the October festivities to Milwaukie with CMI.

Celebrate Milwaukie, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer organization that was created to help organize and fund various events and activities within Milwaukie. For decades they have helped provide much needed support to events like The Milwaukie Daze Festival, the beloved Tree Lighting Ceremony, Holiday Food Box Programs and many more, but most notably is the Sunday Farmers Market in downtown Milwaukie, Oregon. Its with the funds produced at the Market that CMI is able to provide such fantastic programs back to the community. CMI is made up of all volunteers including its board members who all give hundreds of hours a year to help deliver the programs that have helped to shape the close knit community that is Milwaukie. CMI is constantly looking for new ways to help provide more to the community and is always accepting grant proposals from citizens to help make the city an even more livable place.

This years Pumpkin Carving Contest should be a big one with lots of area businesses contributing to the prizes for each category and age group. From "Mayor Look-A-Like" to "Scariest" there will be plenty of categories to choose from. If you can't enter a pumpkin yourself, come down and see the entries first hand. "This is a great thing to come out for," Aschenbrenner adds, "The Farmers Market is really a family friendly environment and there are all kinds of great vendors, live music and even cooking demonstrations, so really something for everyone."
