Keeping the Holiday Lights Bright; LBI Region celebrates the season!

Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce encourages all to make their holiday shopping, dining and entertainment a day at the beach with local holiday shopping campaign.

Oct. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Long Beach Island Region may be voted top beach in NJ every year, but there is something beyond the summer that feels like the right kind of season in LBI. As the hectic holidays approach, it is comforting to know that many favorite shops, restaurants and events are up, running and ready to serve up holiday traditions like never before.. The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce reminds everyone to support their local businesses and to buy their holiday treasures locally.

Kicking of December 1 the 33rd Annual Ship Bottom Christmas Parade ushers in the holidays with bands, floats and of course Santa in his finest boat!  Beginning at 1pm from 5th to 25th Street, the gateway of LBI comes to life with a holiday ho down themed parade. Want to enter yourself, create a float and join the fun! The more the merrier for this family tradition.


Spend the day picking up unique items for the surfer, boater, fisherman or beach connoisseur on your list. Pick up favorite treats, dine in local restaurants for traditional or holiday fare and cozy up at a fabulous Bed and Breakfast, Inn or motel. Long Beach Township will once again offer holiday beach badges for the 2013 season. They can be purchased at the at the Beach Badge Shack on 68th Street from Black Friday to New Years Eve day.

Running all season are a variety of events, and live performances such as White Christmas at Surflight Theatre, new this year is Winter Wonderland attraction at the Show Place Ice Cream Parlour. Catch the musical Home for the Holidays at Ocean Professional Theatre performing at the Ocean First Theatre in Manahawkin. Enjoy an old fashioned Tree Festival and Holiday House tour at Tuckerton Seaport. The region is full of festive gallery exhibits, birding activities and take advantage of our pristine beaches to take that perfect holiday portrait.

The famous Chriskindlmarkt will once again be back at the Tuckerton Seaport December 8 and 9 bringing dozens of vendors, wineries, crafters and food specialties in this open air european style market. With live performances, horse and carriage rides as well as carousel for the children.

The Southern Ocean County Chamber welcomes all to put a little summer in their holiday season by shopping and enjoying the Long Beach Island Region at the merriest time of year.
