Hankinson take part in World's Largest Coffee Morning - 28th September 2012
Hankinson’s Birkenhead Head Office took part in this event on Friday 28th September. £60 was raised through the sale of raffle tickets (with a national prize of £10,000 or a Fiat 500 car), cakes, biscuits and tea/coffee to members of staff and visitors.
MacMillan provide medical, emotional, practical and financial support to people suffering with cancer and their families and they are continually pushing for a better cancer care system. To give an idea of where monies raised can be put to use, Macmillan published the list below:-
£25 pays for a Macmillan nurse to support a family affected by cancer for one hour.
£138 pays for 3 hours of confidential support and information for anyone with questions or concerns about cancer.
£61 pays for 4 hours for a Macmillan benefits adviser to help someone struggling with the costs of cancer.
£181 could pay for a Macmillan social worker or family support worker for a day, helping people manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer.
£278 could keep a Macmillan information and support centre stocked for a month with all the resources it needs to support people affected by cancer.
£370 could pay for the hire of a room for a year so a self-help and support group could hold regular meetings.
