Class helps landlords steer profitable rental course

Two-part course for new and seasoned landlords starts Thursday, October 4.

Sept. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- ST. LOUIS – In a two-night program next week, new and prospective owners of rental housing can learn practical tips to help improve the viability of their investment. The classes are co-sponsored by the University of Missouri–St. Louis, St. Louis County’s Department of Public Works (Division of Neighborhood Services) and the St. Louis Real Estate Investors Association.
 
The two-part, landlord education program will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on October 4 and October 11, at the World Trade Center Building, 121 S. Meramec (at Bonhomme), Room 1009, in Clayton.
 
Topics include: determining if a property is a good investment, identifying and retaining quality tenants, leases, legal issues, marketing, codes and regulations, maintenance, budgets, business plans, bookkeeping and recordkeeping.
 
The instructors bring years of landlord and property management experience to the class. 
 
The course costs $70, which includes a 500-page “Landlord Guidebook.” Registration is required by October 2.
